Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said Bangladesh is geared to receive a total of 54 lakh coronavirus vaccine shots – including 35 lakh via Covax facility and 20 lakh from China– by August 15.

The minister came up with the announcement at the secretariat on Monday.

“The mass vaccination drive in the country is soon to pick up its pace in the coming days as over one crore Covid-19 shots are expected to arrive this month”, he said.

Mentioning that the proposal to buy 60 million doses of Chinese Covid-19 vaccine has been approved in the cabinet, Zahid Maleque said that the procedure is currently waiting for the fund disbursement.
